US Highway 19E runs through Yancey County, connecting to I-26 to West (approx. 15 miles) and is considered a strategic east-west corridor from Asheville to Boone on northeast. From Burnsville, Us Hwy. 19E is a new four lane divided highway. With Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III through Burnsville complete, the Phase IV continuation to Spruce Pine is scheduled to be completed in 2020.


US Highway 19E via Interstate 26 and Interstate 40 offers great proximity to Johnson City, Spartanburg, Greenville, and Hickory as well as larger metropolitan markets like Charlotte, Atlanta, the NC Triad (Winston Salem, Greensboro, and High Point), and the Research Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill).

More than 100 long-haul trucking firms are accessible within a 100 mile radius of Yancey County. Full truckload service is available from Yancey County to anywhere in the nation within 4 days.
